Birgit Rakel, MD, ABIHM
Dr. Rakel is Director of the Women’s Health Program at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health-Jefferson Health and Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences, Thomas Jefferson University, where she is founding Director of the Integrative Medicine Fellowship Program. She also is Director of “The Healer’s Art Course” at Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
Dr. Rakel began her medical education in Europe in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and she did a prestigious fellowship at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. In the US, she continued her training to become board certified in Family Medicine, and she also completed an integrative medicine fellowship that is board certified in Integrative Medicine. She has authored numerous scholarly publications and co-edited a premier Integrative Medicine textbook.
