As men and women enter midlife and beyond, it’s common to experience both gradual and sudden changes in your body. Discomfort, diminishing performance and low energy… night sweats, cardiovascular issues and pains you’ve never felt before… all can become commonplace. And when you look in the mirror, you don’t see the vibrancy that you feel inside shining outwardly.
You could be lacking nutrients — our requirements shift as we age. Or your fluctuating hormones could be the root cause. Whatever your health issues may be, our experts will build a program to address your concerns and return your zest for life.
Our patients often say, “I never knew this is what my body would do as I age, and I certainly never knew there was something to do about it.” At the Marcus Institute, we’ll show you how.

As an international leader in micronutrient research and therapies, we offer intravenous nutrient infusions as part of our treatment plans for a variety of conditions. If you have become nutrient-depleted from chronic illness, gastrointestinal problems, poor diet and other many other health issues, discover how our targeted treatments can benefit your body.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): Infused at pharmacologic doses as an adjunctive agent for supportive cancer care. This protocol is given in collaboration with your primary oncological physician. Our team has published groundbreaking research on this therapy.
Restorative Micronutrient Mix: Includes a range of vital nutrients infused at physiological doses to replenish and restore; and can be helpful for patients who have become nutrient-depleted from chronic illness, gastrointestinal problems or poor diet. The precise blend is customized to the individual patient based on clinical presentation and laboratory values.
N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC): When infused at moderately high doses, this is a powerful antioxidant with potential to treat a variety of health issues. We are currently studying the impact of administering this nutrient to patients with Parkinson’s Disease and neurocognitive/neurodegenerative problems, and our initial results are highly encouraging. Migraine Mix: A magnesium-based infusion for patients with chronic or intense headaches.
We’ve observed patients with malabsorption issues benefit more from these therapies than traditional pill-formed supplements. As we continue our research, the potential power of nutrient infusions grows every day. Join us.
Cost of nutrient infusions ranges from $150-$600, though the cost of many of our protocols are covered by grants.

The Myrna Brind Center for Mindfulness is the longest standing program of the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health. The Center is the Philadelphia region's leading provider of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs.
Mindfulness is about paying attention. It's about living your life in the richness of right now, not being lost in memories of the past or overwhelmed by the worries or projections of the future. It's a simple practice that strengthens the mind's ability to stay focused on what is happening right now and to be open to experience — meeting the present moment with kindness and nonreactivity. Learn more about mindfulness and MBSR.
Our MBSR programs are modeled after the MBSR program that was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Our programs have helped thousands of people transform their lives, even in the midst of physical and psychological suffering. We offer MBSR programs throughout the year for the public, training programs for mindfulness professionals and mindful practices for the workplace.

The research we conduct at the Marcus Institute is essential for improving all aspects of integrative medicine and care, for our patients and beyond. As we explore new and developing approaches, we evaluate the link between their clinical effects, such as reduced pain or improved function, with our participants’ physiological changes, which we measure using state-of-the-art imaging techniques.
We utilize the region’s only PET-MR scanner for adults to determine structural and functional changes associated with various integrative methods for neurological and psychiatric conditions, as well as specific diseases such as cancer and irritable bowel syndrome.
Andrew Newberg, MD
The latest in positron emission tomography (PET) to visualize functional physiology. Frequently used to evaluate organ activity and assess/detect malignancies in specific cases where there is a requirement to visualize functional physiology of a body area. These scans can also be leveraged to evaluate overall health and promote ongoing wellness.
The institute includes the most advanced technology in PET scanning, including the most precise imaging of the brain available using PET-MRI technology — one of only 30 such devices in the country. PET-MRI combines metabolic activity from the PET scan and anatomic data from the magnetic resonance imaging. Results from a PET-MRI offers a comprehensive look at the body.

Everyone’s skin ages differently, whether that appears as moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, burrows on the forehead, smile lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, or other unwanted wrinkles and folds.
Our experts provide an approach to aesthetic enhancement that creates positively dramatic results without the complications of surgery. We offer injections of Botox®, Xeomin® or Dysport® that lead to relaxing of the muscles and fewer wrinkles. Results from this relatively painless procedure can often be seen in as little as 48 hours and usually last between three to six months.
To further smooth out wrinkles and refine your skin, you may benefit from volumizing and plumping dermal filler injections, such as Restylane® or Juvéderm®. Smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles can be done in just a few minutes — and it’s not painful.
Contact us to schedule an evaluation of your needs and concerns, so we can determine which option is right for you.
